Gold Coast residents devasted by recent severe weather and flooding, are being strongly supported with hundreds of flood-affected residents receiving financial and emotional assistance.

Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment Cameron Dick has today outlined the preliminary cost of last week’s severe weather event to the state budget and the broader Queensland economy.

Education Minister Grace Grace has praised the hard work that’s gone into helping schools recover from the floods, confirming that only 6 state schools will be unable to fully open tomorrow (Monday 7 March), and will instead have alternative learning arrangements in place.

Thanks to the herculean efforts of Queensland Rail track workers over the weekend, more train services will be available for Monday morning commuters.

The Queensland Government is continuing to support flood-affected areas across the state, with community recovery hubs now open in Maryborough, Gatton, Ormeau and Palm Beach.

The Premier has kick started a flood donation campaign to help get flood affected Queenslanders back on their feet.

More than $3.5 million in financial assistance has been provided to flood-affected residents in south-east Queensland, as grants and support are extended to additional impacted communities including the Redlands local government area (LGA).

Financial recovery assistance of up to $75,000 is now available for primary producers impacted by the South East Queensland rainfall and flooding event.

Emergency funding grants of $20,000 and $5,000 were available to Queensland not-for-profit sport and active recreation clubs to help them get back on their feet after recent flood events.

Residents in parts of the Scenic Rim local government area (LGA) who have been impacted by severe flooding can now access financial assistance and support services, including Emergency Hardship Assistance grants of up to $180 per person and $900 for a family of five or more.

The Queensland Government is continuing to roll out support to flood-affected areas across the south-east, with additional community recovery hubs now open in Beenleigh, Laidley, Goodna and Lowood.

Financial support for flood-affected Queensland small businesses, farmers, not-for-profit organisations, and sporting and community clubs will now be available following a new agreement between the Prime Minister and Premier.
