$30M up for grabs for Queensland community groups

• 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF)
• A massive $30 million is up for grabs thanks to a special edition of GCBF’s annual Super Round.
• The Super Round is now open and will close on April 30

The Miles Government is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund with a massive $30 million Super Round.

Queensland community groups and not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to benefit from the super-sized grants of up to $100,000.

In a special edition of the Super Round, $30 million has been made available to mark the grant’s 30^th anniversary, which is the largest pool of funding available since the Disaster Recovery Round in 2022.

Since its inception in 1994, GCBF Fund – the state’s largest one-off grants program - has provided more than $1.173 billion to almost 70,000 community organisations across Queensland.

The 30th Anniversary Super Round opened on Monday, March 18 and will close on April 30.

While the latest GCBF round is not a standalone Disaster Recovery Round, those community groups impacted by extreme weather over the summer period are encouraged to apply.

The massive $30 million Super Round could not have come at a better time with many organisations continuing to rebuild following a summer of natural disasters, or feeling the pinch as we grapple with cost-of-living.

“This supersized round gives organisations the opportunity to apply for a funding boost of up to $100,000.

“For just the second time in its 30 years, a massive $30 million will be available in the funding pool and I encourage all community groups and organisations to take advantage of this opportunity.

“As we reflect on the past 30 years of the GCBF, I am incredibly proud that the Queensland Government has been able to support so many vital community projects and initiatives.

“These funds have supported vital programs and initiatives, ranging from healthcare and education to social support and environmental conservation.

“This includes the Australian Street Aid Project who received a $100,000 grant to purchase a bus that provides up to 20 people with a secure, comfortable place to sleep. 

“The Goondir Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation also received a grant of almost $100,000 towards the purchase of furniture, fittings and equipment to help establish a Community Wellbeing Centre in St George.

“The Miles Government is committed to supporting and empowering organisations like these to carry on their vital work through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
