- School children to be reached through Beyond the Broncos Programs
- Sponsorship builds on success of Gold Coast Titans signage sponsorship in 2023
The Miles Government’s Women in Manufacturing Strategy has joined forces with the Brisbane Broncos to encourage more women into an exciting and fulfilling career in advanced manufacturing.
The partnership will mean the unmissable fluorescent pink signs will be displayed at all Broncos home games through the 2024 season, shown to on-ground spectators and the broadcast audience of approximately 6.5 million viewers each season.
In addition to the signage, Broncos ambassadors Ali Brigginshaw, Scott Prince, Justin Hodges and Darius Boyd will promote the WIM Strategy and manufacturing careers with students through the Beyond the Broncos Programs.
The Broncos partnership builds on the success of the continuing sponsorship with the Gold Coast Titans Women’s team, which ran throughout the 2023 season.
This is part of the Women in Manufacturing Strategy, launched by the Queensland Government on International Women’s Day last year to attract and retain more women into traditionally male-dominated roles in manufacturing.
Quotes attributable to Minister for Manufacturing, Glenn Butcher:
“Manufacturing has a long and successful history in Queensland, just as the Brisbane Broncos do and this partnership brings together two Queensland success stories.
“We are also continuing the sponsorship agreement with the Titans NRLW team which is fantastic.
“There are so many manufacturing opportunities coming for Queensland businesses through the Big Build, 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, our Energy and Jobs Plan and the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program just to name a few. Our Strategy addresses industry calls for more staff because know getting more women into manufacturing delivers better outcomes for businesses.
“I look forward to working with the Broncos to implement our strategy to attract and retain more women in Queensland’s manufacturing sector.”
Quotes attributable to Brisbane Broncos CEO, Dave Donaghy:
“As a club, we are incredibly proud of this new partnership, which will build upon some of our already existing and successful programs supported by the State Government, away from the footy field.
“There was a time, not too long ago, that even semi-professional rugby league wasn’t an option for women, but we know now, and after some incredible success with our NRLW program since 2018 and despite there being a long way to go, that that overarching barrier no longer exists.
“We have some exceptional female leaders involved with the Brisbane Broncos, both within our NRL W team and in our Ambassador Program, who are excited to lend their voice to inspire and excite more women to lead the way in fields they may not have considered, like manufacturing.”
