Quotes attributable to the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Yvette D’Ath:

We have already seen a strong level of interest from applicants since we advertised the positions earlier this month.

“I am now pleased to say we are extending the deadline by a week to ensure all voices across the state are considered.

“The safety of Queenslanders is our priority and we want to ensure the needs of victims are front and centre.

“We want to ensure the independent council has broad representation so it can fulfill its role in shaping the government’s response to crime and support for victims.

“As I have said previously, we know that hearing from experts and people with lived experience is the best way to achieve effective change.”
