  • Ormeau is a 24-hour ambulance station providing additional around the clock support for the community and surrounds
  • The $6.5 million, state-of-art ambulance station is located at 115 Peachey Road, Ormeau
  • The ambulance station has 17 staff, comprised of one officer-in-charge and 16 paramedics.

Paramedics are now servicing the growing northern Gold Coast community from a new purpose-built ambulance facility in Ormeau.

Amid increased demand in the region, the Ormeau Ambulance Station continues to boost the local ambulance response and support nearby stations at Pimpama, Coomera and Beenleigh.

In response to the increased demand for ambulance services and significant population growth in Ormeau and its surrounding areas, land was acquired at 115 Peachey Road, Ormeau for the development of the new Ormeau Ambulance Station.

The location of the new ambulance station was selected with consideration to the safe access of emergency vehicles to major traffic routes and the capability of a quick response in all directions.

It is another example of the Palaszczuk Government investing in our frontline health services.

Since 2015, the Palaszczuk Government has employed more than 1,100 additional frontline paramedics, which has ensured that over 90 per cent of 000 calls are answered within 10 seconds, and 90 per cent of the most critical incidents are attended in approximately 17 minutes.

The QAS is the busiest ambulance service in the country, responding to 1.2 million incidents a year, and is the only mainland service that is free. This is something that will never change under the Palaszczuk Government.

Quotes attributable to the Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services Shannon Fentiman:

“Our frontline paramedics do an incredible job every single day to provide care to the Queenslanders who need it most.”

“With more and more families moving to the northern Gold Coast region, I am confident that this state-of-the-art Ormeau station will make a different and give locals peace-of-mind.”

The new ambulance station supports coverage in the northern Gold Coast area and contributes to improving response times across the region.

“This ambulance station is now home to 16 paramedics and an officer-in-charge, forming part of our Government’s wider commitment to boosting frontline staff across the State.”

Quotes attributable to Minister for Housing Meaghan Scanlon:

“The Gold Coast is one of Queensland’s fastest growing areas, and our government is making the necessary investments to keep pace with that growth.

This is one of many health projects the Palaszczuk Government has committed on the Gold Coast thanks to the $2.1 billion health investment announced in the Budget.

“This is more than a 100% increase in health funding for the Gold Coast since 2015.

“It joins the Gold Coast university Hospital sub-acute expansion, Gold Coast Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit with 40 beds, Tugun Satellite Hospital and expansions to Robina Hospital that will deliver 134 new beds.”

Quotes attributable to Queensland Ambulance Service Assistant Commissioner, Gold Coast Region, Andrew Hebbron:

“We want to ensure the community’s expectations are being met during a medical emergency and this state-of-the-art facility is supporting paramedics to deliver the best care to their patients.

“It was exciting to see the roller doors opening as Ormeau Ambulance Station paramedics responded to their first case from the new station in June.

“The last few months of the station being operational have been a fantastic success for not only our staff, but for Ormeau and surrounding communities.”
