- Multiplex Constructions has been awarded the tender to lead the design stage of the new Coomera Hospital.
- The new $1.3 billion hospital will deliver 404 new beds for the Gold Coast region.
- It is expected the new Coomera Hospital will be completed in the second half of 2027.
The new Coomera Hospital on the Gold Coast is a step closer to reality today after the Queensland Government awarded Multiplex Constructions the contract to deliver stage one of the $1.3 billion facility.
The new hospital will deliver 404 new beds, including surgical, medical, ambulatory, sub-acute and mental health inpatient beds to the community.
It will also provide emergency department treatment spaces and a satellite medical imaging department, alongside new operating theatres, endoscopy rooms, birthing suites, consult rooms, and mental health support services.
Speciality services will also be available at the new hospital including Intensive Care, Coronary Care and a Special Care Nursery.
These additions will provide residents with care closer to home and reduce travel time to the Gold Coast University Hospital and other major South-East Queensland hospitals.
As the Coomera Hospital population catchment is expected to almost double by 2036, the new Coomera Hospital masterplan will provide for further expansion of services to ensure the growing community’s needs continue to be met.
Preparatory works have already occurred to make the site safe, including demolition of site dwellings.
Early works for the new Coomera Hospital will begin later this year, with the project expected to be completed in late 2027.
