Secondary College official opening marks new era for education in Palmview

• Education Minister has officially opened the new $109 million Palmview State Secondary College 
• High school joins primary and special school to form learning community
• Palaszczuk Government have delivered 25 new schools since 2015

The Palmview State Secondary College is officially open, following a special event this morning. 

Education Minister Grace Grace joined State Member for Nicklin, Rob Skelton MP on the Sunshine Coast today to mark the opening of Stage 1 of the $109 million project.

Opening its doors on day one of the 2023 school year, Palmview has 142 Year 7 and 8 students enrolled.

Featuring a dedicated science centre, brand-new administration centre, a junior learning centre and a multi-purpose sports hall, the new school also includes a hospitality and food services centre.

Uniquely located on the same site as Palmview’s State Primary and State Special Schools, the three schools will form the ‘Palmview Learning Community’ and share the same logo (different colours) and same values.

Delivered by the FKG Group, the build created almost 200 jobs across the four years of construction and has an expected build capacity of 1,500 Year 7 to 12 students at the completion of all stages.

In the 2022-23 State Budget alone the Palaszczuk Government delivered almost $2 billion for education infrastructure, supporting 4,200 good, secure jobs for Queenslanders.

While on the Sunshine Coast, Minister Grace also turned the sod on a new $13 million hall at Noosa District State High School’s Pomona Campus.

The state-of-the-art hall will include a performance stage, a dedicated space for kinesiology studies and a kitchen which can function as a kiosk.
