The Queensland Government is marking the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal with a $100,000 donation to support vital community programs and social services.

The Red Shield Appeal runs throughout April, May and June each year.

Queenslanders are being encouraged to make a donation online.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Communities Leeanne Enoch:

“I encourage all Queenslanders who can do so to donate to this very important cause,” Ms Enoch said.

“The Red Shield Appeal is particularly important this year, with the Salvation Army supporting people impacted by rising cost-of-living pressures.

“In recent years, we’ve seen the Salvation Army’s extraordinary efforts support Queenslanders through floods, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They also work incredibly hard in our communities each and every day, providing an average of 100,000 meals and 2000 beds for the homeless each week across Australia.

“Donations over $2 are tax deductible and will make a big difference to the lives of Queenslanders in need.”
