The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

  • The Palaszczuk Government’s Queensland Day Sponsorship Program to fund 11 community events
  • Grants awarded to 10 organisations across the state
  • Funding of up to $15,000 was available for community groups to hold Queensland Day events

The Palaszczuk Government is funding 11 community events – spreading from Bowen to the Scenic Rim and to Noosa – through its Queensland Day Sponsorship Program.

The program encourages Queenslanders to celebrate Queensland Day to reflect the unique culture, heritage and aspirations of their community.

Community organisations could apply for grants of up to $15,000 for events and initiatives celebrating Queensland Day.

Queensland became an independent colony after separating from New South Wales on 6 June 1859.

Every year, Queenslanders celebrate with festivals, art initiatives, parades, and family fun days.

Quotes attributable to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk:

“This Queensland Day marks 164 years of our great state – an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a Queenslander.

“Together communities around the state will mark this historic day at events or with friends and family, looking back on our unique culture, industry and achievements.

“I’m proud our government can support local events throughout Queensland to make this historic day even more memorable.

“I look forward to celebrating Queensland Day, and I hope Queenslanders in all of our wonderful regions do too.”
