Judge Catherine Muir appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court

• District Court Judge Catherine Muir will join the Trial Division as a Supreme Court Justice.

• Judge Muir fills the vacancy of Justice David Boddice following his appointment to the Court of Appeal.

Her Honour will join the Supreme Court bench on April 11, 2023, with the swearing-in to be held on April 12, 2023.

Judge Muir’s appointment to the Supreme Court follows Her Honour’s appointment to the District Court in November 2016.

Judge Muir was subsequently appointed to the Childrens Court of Queensland and the Planning and Environment Court.

Judge Muir was called to the Bar in 2001.

As a barrister, Her Honour practised widely in commercial litigation and insolvency matters with a particular focus on banking.

Before being appointed a District Court Judge, Her Honour was counsel assisting the Hon. Margaret Wilson QC in the Commission of Inquiry into the Closure of the Barrett Adolescent Centre in 2015-16.
