Mount Glorious Road receives safety improvements

  • Safety improved at key locations between Samford-Mount Glorious Road and Wivenhoe-Somerset Road
  • Includes resurfacing, line marking, safety barrier upgrades, signs and vegetation removal

The second stage of a $11.3 million safety project on Mount Glorious Road is now complete.

The work, funded by the Queensland Government's Targeted Road Safety Program, addressed known and potential crash locations using high-benefit, cost-effective safety treatments.

The first stage of the project was completed in 2021, making Samford-Mount Glorious Road safer.

Improvements have included:

  • Road resurfacing
  • Line marking and sign improvements, including additional wildlife signs
  • Upgrades to safety barriers
  • Vegetation clearing to improve driver sight lines.

Queensland company Doval delivered the project, supporting an average of 41 direct jobs.

Quotes attributable to Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd:

“Mount Glorious Road follows a lovely, scenic route through a beautiful part of the D'Aguilar Range, popular with locals and tourists.”

“Unfortunately, it has historically had a high crash history, causing too many serious injuries.”

"Road safety is our top priority, so we’ve targeted known and potential crash locations along a 27-kilometre stretch with these safety measures”

"Better signs and clearer sight lines, a smoother surface and improved guardrails will make Mount Glorious Road safer for all road users.”

"I'd like to thank the community for its cooperation and patience while these important safety works were delivered.”
