Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence
The Honourable Shannon Fentiman
Applications are open to access a new $3 million grant program to support a new national plan to end violence against women and children.
Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Shannon Fentiman said The Keeping Women Safe from Violence grant program will support initiatives that help further the objectives of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032.
“The National Plan had set the foundation for governments to implement frameworks and policies to end gender-based violence,” Minister Fentiman said.
“It is a bold, ambitious, warranted initiative and the Palaszczuk Government has allocated funding provided through the Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Responses 2021-23 National Partnership Agreement to show our commitment to ending violence against women and children, which is fundamentally driven by gender inequality and disrespect.
“The $3 million grant program which was announced in October will provide one-off grants of between $50,000 and $150,000 to service providers, not-for-profit organisations or research bodies to deliver initiatives centred on ending violence against women and children.
“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to ending violence against women and children.
“We have embraced the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 and we urge applicants to come forward with innovative initiatives that will make a genuine difference in our community.”
Applications can be lodged until Friday 24 February with successful submissions announced in March 2023.
During the application period there will be an online forum to help potential applicants understand the submission process and explain the intent of the program.
