Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence
The Honourable Shannon Fentiman

Show cause notices have been issued late yesterday to the licensees of The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane.

This follows the determination that these entities are currently unsuitable to hold a casino licence.

The Gotterson Review highlighted major failings in The Star’s operations at The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane casinos.

The notices issued today provide these entities with the opportunity to show cause as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.

Responses are due by 25 November, 2022.

While it is important that we do not pre-empt the outcomes of these show cause notices, new legislation ensures the Government has a range of disciplinary options available following that process, including increased fines of up to $100 million and the appointment of a special manager.
