New Queensland Integrity Commissioner appointed

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today announced the appointment of Ms Linda Waugh as the Queensland Integrity Commissioner, following a national recruitment process.

Ms Waugh is currently the Merit Protection Commissioner for the Australian Public Service and Parliamentary Service, a role which she has held since 2018.

She has prior experience as Victorian Assistant Ombudsman and New South Wales Deputy Ombudsman and other roles in risk services and corruption prevention, education and research.

The Economics and Governance Committee of the Queensland Parliament was consulted on the proposed appointment as required by the Integrity Act 2009.

The Integrity Commissioner is an officer of the Queensland Parliament, with responsibility for providing advice on integrity and ethics issues to members of the Legislative Assembly, statutory office holders, senior public servants and other designated persons and former designated persons.

The role also oversees the registration of lobbyists in Queensland, and maintenance of the Queensland Register of Lobbyists.

Ms Waugh commences in the role in December. Ms Waugh has been appointed for a five-year term.
