Senior public servant appointed to lead Queensland’s Department of Resources

Senior public sector executive Mark Cridland has been appointed the new Director-General of the Department of Resources.

Resources Minister Scott Stewart today announced the appointment, recommended by an independent recruitment panel.

“Mr Cridland has more than 30 years’ senior experience in the public and private sector and brings strong leadership credentials to the role,” the Minister said.

“He understands our stakeholders and our business after having been the Acting Director-General of the Department of Resources since May.

“I am excited to be able to continue working with him to deliver what is needed to support the best use of Queensland’s renewable and non-renewable land, mineral and energy resources.”

Mr Cridland was a director in KPMG’s Transport and Infrastructure Sector for five years.

He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Legal Studies) from the University of Wollongong and has completed executive education at Harvard University.

He is board member of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and a former board member of the Queensland Investment Panel, Australia New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee, and the Economic Development Queensland Board.
