Minister for Agricultural Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner said since 2015, the Queensland Government had committed more than $19.75 million to constructing cluster fences to help control invasive animals under the Queensland Feral Pest Initiative (QFPI).

“This is complemented by $9.2 million of investment in cluster fencing by the Federal Government,” the Minister said.

“We need a simple online tool that brings together all of this activity with regular updates, and notjustafence.org does that.”

The Minister said QFPI supported local authorities and organisations in taking on more of their biosecurity responsibility by building their capacity to manage pest animals.

“The projects reduce the impact of these pests while creating jobs in the regions and underpinning the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 Unit and Recover Queensland Economic Recovery Package,” he said.
