Palaszczuk Government’s strong record on dams and water infrastructure

The Palaszczuk Government continues to deliver water infrastructure, to create jobs and support Queensland’s economy.

Water Minister Glenn Butcher said the Palaszczuk Government had $2.6 billion committed to water infrastructure.

“The Palaszczuk Government’s investment is supporting 2500 jobs and supporting communities like Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Townsville and more,” the Minister said.

The $2.6 billion commitment includes:

- $30 million for Big Rocks Weir;

- $183 million for Rookwood Weir;

- $600 million for Paradise Dam

- $410 million for both of the stages of the Haughton pipeline from Burdekin Falls Dam to provide water security to Townsville; and

- $16 million for a detailed business case into raising Burdekin Falls Dam

- $70 million for Building Our Regions Round 6 to assist local governments to improve their water supply and sewerage system

- $19.34 million for the Southern Downs drought resilience package

- $20.9 million to modernise an existing open channel irrigation scheme on the Atherton Tablelands
