The Queensland Government has reappointed the Chairperson and two Directors to their positions on the board of Safe Food Production Queensland.

Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner said Chairperson Debra-Lee Best would continue in her role for another three years from 24 April 2022, while Directors Elizabeth Homer and Lynne Sutherland would continue in their current positions on the board from July 2022 until April 2025.

“Safe Food has a crucial function in regulating the production of primary produce, through food safety schemes, to ensure it is safe for human and animal consumption, and in maintaining Queensland’s global reputation for producing safe food,” Mr Furner said.

“Mrs Best, as Safe Food’s Chairperson since April 2019, and Mrs Homer as a Director since June 2016 and Ms Sutherland, a Director since July 2019, have brought considerable skill, knowledge, and expertise to Safe Food’s board.

“They have contributed greatly to the Board’s ability to perform its functions and exercise its powers, particularly throughout the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I congratulate them on their reappointments and have every confidence they will continue to serve Safe Food’s Board, and the people of Queensland, with great diligence and distinction.”
