Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics Infrastructure
The Honourable Dr Steven Miles

Queensland Health has worked closely with the Australian Defence Force to allow personnel who have recently returned from deployment in the Solomon Islands to reunite with their families for Christmas without the need for further quarantine.

A previous exemption that allowed direct entry to Queensland without quarantine has also been amended to permit personnel transiting through New South Wales to enter Queensland without further quarantine.

The latest request from the ADF was made on Monday afternoon and granted on Tuesday.

Queensland recognises the strict COVID protocols put in place by the ADF and the very low rate of COVID-19 in the Solomon Islands.

The Palaszczuk Government thanks ADF personnel for their work in the Solomon Islands in recent times.
