A new Deputy Commissioner for the state’s racing integrity body has now been appointed with Natalie Conner to take on the role.

Ms Connor was formerly COO with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, as well as holding several executive leadership roles in the past.

Racing Minister Grace Grace said that Ms Connor was an outstanding candidate who would bring a wealth of experience to the Commission.

“I’m really happy to announce Natalie’s appointment, following on from our announcement of Shane Gillard as our new QRIC Commissioner.

“Along with Natalie’s past executive leadership roles, she also has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) which will be particularly useful in this role.

“Her executive leadership experience with a focus on organisational transformation and stakeholder engagement will also be a great asset,” she said.

Ms Grace said the QRIC’s focus would always be on animal welfare, transparency and integrity.

“The Commission works in partnership with the Queensland racing industry to uphold the Rules of Racing and to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to compete on an even playing field.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Natalie as we continue to deliver a thriving racing industry for Queensland.” Ms Grace said.
