A mobile laundry service on the Sunshine Coast is set to double its revenue and create more than 110 new jobs thanks to a Palaszczuk Government Business Boost grant.

Member for Caloundra Jason Hunt said a new online booking and scheduling system will take The Laundry Lady’s team of contractors and service locations nationwide.

“These Business Boost grants are all about helping businesses improve their efficiency and productivity through things like website upgrades, strategic marketing, and training and coaching,” Mr Hunt said.

“That’s exactly what a $15,000 Business Boost grant is doing for The Laundry Lady.

“Backing small business is at the heart of our $14.5 billion Economic Recovery Plan, and that plan has delivered another successful small business story here on the Sunshine Coast.”

The Laundry Lady CEO Susan Toft said the new online booking and scheduling system will support scalability and improve the customer experience.

“Our planned project — a seamless, end-to-end booking system — will help accelerate our growth in terms of locations and number of contractors,” she said.

“We’re expecting revenue to double in the six months after the project and create more than 110 new jobs in the next 12 months.

“We’ve recently announced a major recruitment drive and are looking to fill 60 positions in the next 60 days, welcoming both Laundry Ladies and Lads to apply Australia-wide.

“A customised online system will be key in supporting this growth, and we’ve recruited the expertise of local Maroochydore-based business Dynamic Digital Solutions to facilitate the build.”

Minister for Employment and Small Business Di Farmer said backing small businesses was vital to the State’s economic growth.

“The Business Boost grants are part of our Big Plans for Small Business grant programs, which also includes Business Basics and Business Growth Fund,” the Minister said.

“The type of grants, business requirements and the application process are a direct result of feedback from the Small Business Roadshow which toured around Queensland earlier this year.

“This round of Business Boost gives 210 small businesses the opportunity to fast-track upgrades thanks to more than $2.6 million in Palaszczuk Government support.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local communities, and we want to support them, their families and their customers.

“That’s why we’ve provided more than $470 million in grants to small businesses since March 2020, and there’s more to come.

“We’ve supported small businesses with over $182 million in COVID-19 Adaption Grants, more than $275 million through jointly-funded COVID-19 Business Support Grants and $12.4 million through our Big Plans for Small Business grants so far.

“It’s clear the Palaszczuk Government backs small business – and we always will.”
