Minister for Health and Ambulance Services
The Honourable Yvette D'Ath
The Palaszczuk Government will offer pop-up vaccination clinics this weekend at selected Bunnings stores across Queensland to further increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said Queensland Health was working hard to reach as many corners of the state as possible through targeted pop-up vaccination clinics.
“Following the success of the pop-up vaccination clinics at 18 high schools last weekend, we’re branching out to offer access to the vaccine where Queenslanders already are – we are bringing the vaccine to them,” the Minister said.
“So not only can you get the vaccine at established Queensland Health vaccination centres, GPs, pharmacies and outreach clinics – you will also be able to get your jab at one of 33 Bunnings stores this weekend.
“We’re hoping tradies, renovators, DIY regulars, casual shoppers amd those there for the sausage sizzle will all come forward to get vaccinated – and we thank Bunnings for their help to get these sites operational.
“If you see a vaccination clinic at your local Bunnings and haven’t yet been vaccinated, please walk in and get the jab.
Mike Schneider, Bunnings Managing Director said we’re really pleased to be helping Queensland Health with the rollout of community vaccinations across South East Queensland by hosting hubs in 33 of our store carparks.
“We hope it makes accessing vaccinations as easy and convenient as picking up an item for a weekend DIY project,” Mr Schneider said.
“We’ve always tried to play an active role supporting the local communities where we operate, so providing space to Queensland Health to accelerate the vaccination rollout just makes sense.
“Like everyone, we can’t wait to see the whole community protected so we can all get back to doing the things we love.”
Anyone aged 12 and over is now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine at all Queensland Health vaccination locations.
“Now is the critical time to get vaccinated – we have the supply, we have the capacity, and we want people to come and get vaccinated now,“ the Minister said.
“The Pfizer vaccine is available at Queensland Health vaccination sites, the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines are available at participating GPs, and the AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines are available at participating community pharmacies.”
