Good grants news for Gladstone community groups

Six community organisations across Gladstone will share in more than $164,000 from the latest round of grants from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).

Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher shared the good news today and congratulated the successful recipients.

“These grants deliver projects that really benefit our local Gladstone community,” Mr Butcher said.

“This valuable funding will be used for projects such as installing a ninja rig and matting at the Gladstone Gymnastic Club, new footpaths for the Boyne Island Tannum Sands Golf Club and a new ride on mower for the Clinton Park Sports Association.

“The Palaszczuk Government is extremely grateful for the role the organisations play in supporting minority groups, creating opportunities, and fostering community spirit and connectivity.”

Across the State almost $11 million is going to 448 not-for-profit community groups in the latest round of the program.

GEA general manager Chantale Lane said the grant would go toward the installation of solar panels which not only reduce electricity costs and help GEA continue to deliver cost-effective and valuable programs for community groups and its members, but also help the organisation reduce its carbon footprint.

“GEA is a not-for-profit organisation and the installation of solar panels will dramatically reduce our electricity bill, meaning we can invest more money into the programs, training and facility hire we provide to other community organisations, schools and our members,” Ms Lane said.

Ms Lane said GEA was extremely grateful to receive a GCBF grant in Round 110.

“The installation of solar panels can be an expensive exercise and without the assistance of the GCBF we would not be in the position to move forward with this project,” she said.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman reminded organisations that round 112 is open for applications until 31 October and that we are just one round away from 2022’s round 113 – the super round.

“Next year is an exciting year for the GCBF, with the first-time inclusion of a super round when grants of up to $100,000 will be up for grabs,” Minister Fentiman said.

“I can’t wait to see the fruits of the hard work of these community groups, with a little help from their GCBF grants, in the future.”
