Statement

A press release issued on my behalf on 8 August 2020 incorrectly stated that Cr Jonathan Sri failed to respond to, or appear before the Supreme Court on that day.

The statement was incorrect.

Cr Sri did respond and appeared remotely. Cr Sri was not criticised by the Court as stated by the press release.

I retract the statement on the grounds that it was or may be defamatory of Cr Sri, and I apologise for any hurt caused by the statement.

I also note that the court did not make any orders against Councillor Sri having regard to the state of the evidence before the court and his submissions as to his lack of involvement in planning the event.
