The Honourable Yvette D'Ath

Ipswich and Gold Coast residents will have greater access to the COVID-19 vaccine from next week with the opening of two new community-based vaccination centres.

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the new centres were in response to growing demand for vaccinations from Ipswich and Gold Coast residents.

The new centres will be located at:

  • Ipswich - the former Harvey Norman showroom, accessible via the Nicholas Street Mall (opens Tuesday 20 July 2021).
  • Gold Coast - adjacent to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on the Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach (opens Monday 26 July 2021).

“As more Queenslanders come forward for vaccination, the Palaszczuk Government is continuing to grow its network of COVID-19 vaccination hubs,” she said.

“We’re pleased to be able to provide this service to the Ipswich and Gold Coast communities to enhance their access to the free COVID-19 vaccine.

“Subject to supply from the Commonwealth, we’re continuing to roll out community-based vaccination locations across Queensland.

“Queensland Health has administered more than 740,000 vaccinations to date as more Queenslanders come forward to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“Thank you to all those Queenslanders who have come forward to get vaccinated so far – vaccination is our best chance of beating this pandemic.”

The Ipswich vaccination centre will operate Monday to Saturday, with the Gold Coast centre to operate seven days a week.

Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard said:

“This new centre is an important part of our fight against COVID and I encourage eligible Ipswich residents to come forward for vaccination.”

Assistant Minister for Hydrogen Development and the 50% Renewable Energy Target and Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said:

“West Moreton Health has already delivered more than 20,000 vaccinations in Ipswich and we want to keep growing this number to keep local residents safe.”

Assistant Minister for Treasury and Member for Jordan Charis Mullen said:

“More and more residents in the greater Ipswich area want to get vaccinated and this new centre will help ensure vaccination rates keep growing.”

Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden said:

“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to keeping Queenslanders safe from COVID, and this new vaccination hub is an important part of our strategy.”

Minister for Environment and the Great Barrier Reef and Minister for Science and Youth Affairs and Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon said:

“Vaccination helps to protect the great lifestyle we enjoy on the Gold Coast, which is why I’m urging local residents to come forward to get their vaccine.”
