New appointments bring wealth of knowledge to the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Board

Two experienced clinicians and an auditing specialist are the latest appointees to the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Board. 

Associate Professor Martin Byrne, Dr Simon Denny along with William Fellowes are the newest members of the 10-person board.

Existing members Cheryl Herbert, Ross Willims and Heather Watson have also been reappointed.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said the three new members have a wealth of experience working in health-related roles.

“I’d like to welcome them to the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Board,” Minister D’Ath said.

“All bring a wealth of experience in their respective professions.

“Mr Fellowes specialises in auditing and financial consulting and, in his role at PwC, has been seconded to executive roles including the CEO of a healthcare technology company. He also sits on several not-for-profit Boards and Audit Committees.”

“Dr Denny has worked in medicine for almost 20 years in Australia, New Zealand and the United States, with an extensive background in adolescent health.  

“Associate Professor Byrne is the Director of Medical Services at the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) at Metro North Hospital and Health Service. He also has valuable experience in rural health, both in the public and private sector.

“I know that each of them will work hard to ensure Children’s Health Queensland continues to deliver excellent health services.”

The 16 boards throughout Queensland are responsible under the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 for local performance of their health service and the delivery of public health services within their communities.
