Slabs poured on first terrace homes at Carseldine Village

Construction on the first 53 terrace homes at Carseldine Village, a 100% solar and battery neighbourhood, is underway, supporting around 60 construction jobs.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development Steven Miles was onsite today to meet with home buyers as they took a first look at the beginnings of their new homes.

“It’s exciting to see the first slabs completed as we build more innovative and affordable homes for Queenslanders,” Mr Miles said.

“This will support around 60 construction jobs for the first 53 terrace homes in Stage 1, with more stages and more jobs to come.

“Queensland’s strong health response to the COVID-19 pandemic has driven the highest rate of net interstate migration in Australia to our state.

“This economic activity is needed to support growth as well as provide new housing supply for home buyers, close to existing public transport routes.”

Member for Aspley Bart Mellish said Carseldine Village is one of the first residential development in Queensland to commit to delivering net zero energy emission terrace homes with energy saving features to slash power bills.

“It will be a 100% solar and battery neighbourhood saving homebuyers thousands of dollars in electricity,” Mr Mellish said.

“All the Carseldine Village terrace homes will come with solar PV, battery storage systems, heat pump hot water systems, WiFi air conditioning and will be electric vehicle charger ready.

“Owners could save up to $1600 per year off their power bills.”

Aldridge and Miranda Joseph were the first buyers to sign a contract with builders Vantage Homes Qld to live in Carseldine Village.

“We are delighted to see our new home start to take shape,” Mr Joseph said.

“It’s one thing to see the house and land on paper, but another to be able to see it being built.

“Our daughter bought a home in Fitzgibbon Chase, a previous Economic Development Queensland project, so Carseldine Village sparked our interest. 

“When we heard about the green credentials of the terrace homes, being a 100 per cent solar PV and battery storage and saving up to $1600 annually on electricity bills, we knew this was where we wanted to live.”

Mr Miles said to support population growth the Queensland Government is accelerating land supply across South East Queensland.

“We recently announced a new suburb at Caboolture West, which the Queensland Government’s Growth Areas Delivery Team selected as a pilot site to accelerate land supply in South East Queensland,” he said.

“Work will also identify the infrastructure necessary to support more affordable, liveable communities.

“This is all part of the Government’s economic recovery plan, to create more jobs and development in our state.”
