A new $1.5 million staff facility – part-funded by the State Government – is now officially available to Livingstone Christian College teachers.

Education Minister Grace Grace today congratulated Livingstone Christian College on the official opening of the second stage of the new facility, which will allow all the colleges’ secondary teachers to come together to plan and train.

Ms Grace said the Palaszczuk Government contributed $500,000 to the new facility – part of more than $14 million in state funding invested in the College over the past five years.

“I congratulate Livingstone Christian College and its supportive community, both for this facility and for its efforts last year,” she said.

“Like state and non-government schools alike around the state, Livingstone Christian College showed support, resilience, patience and flexibility to help students learn, grow and flourish during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Ms Grace said the Queensland Government was committed to ensuring high quality infrastructure was in place for all Queensland students.

“The State Government is investing $850 million this financial year in non-government schools to support their operations and for capital projects,” she said.

Livingstone Christian College Principal, Dr Mark Laraghy said the new facility meant all secondary teachers could come together in one well-planned, purpose-designed space to plan and train to help secondary students flourish.

“This supports Livingstone Christian College’s focus on developing the whole child so that each student is prepared to succeed in the journey that takes them to life beyond school,” he said.

Stage two of secondary staff facility includes administration spaces, a training room, a staff resource room, five offices, an interview room, a meeting room, two kitchenettes, a compactus, amenities, a verandah extension, furniture and equipment, stairs and a lift and a reception area.

Ms Melissa McMahon MP, Member for Macalister, today officially opened the new facility on behalf of Minister Grace.
