Seventeen Mile Rocks manufacturer Intellidesigns will be in the market to create new local jobs thanks to more than $300,000 of funding from the Palaszczuk Government’s $46 million Made in Queensland (MiQ) program.

Intellidesigns – an innovative electronics design and manufacturing firm – has been awarded $306,280 from Round 3 program to purchase advanced robotic assembly equipment.

Member for Mt Ommaney Jess Pugh said the creation of new jobs for the local community was welcome news.

“Introduction of this world-leading technology is anticipated to create 10 new local jobs over five years, which is great news for our community,” Ms Pugh said.

“IntelliDesign will use the new equipment to manufacture high-quality, sophisticated electronic devices for a variety of markets, including Defence, Medical, Mining, Civil Engineering, Utilities and the Internet of Things.”

Minister for Manufacturing Glenn Butcher said through programs like MiQ the Palaszczuk Government was supporting manufacturers to be more internationally competitive, adopt new innovative processes and technologies and create high-skilled jobs of the future

Mr Butcher said the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of the Queensland manufacturing sector and its ability to respond to and address supply chain challenges.

“The Palaszczuk Government recognises the critical role our state’s manufacturing sector will play as we deliver Queensland’s economic plan to recover from the global COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Butcher said.

“Our government is committed to the ongoing transformation of the state’s manufacturing industry as it transitions to advanced manufacturing.”

IntelliDesign’s CEO, Matt Bromwich, said that adopting the latest advanced robotic assembly equipment would increase capacity, productivity and quality of their products.

“Being an innovative company that designs and subsequently manufactures complex electronic devices it is essential we minimise outsourcing and continue to augment our manufacturing capability to attract new local and export opportunities,” Mr Bromwich said.

“The new equipment will enable us to onshore more of the work associated with our existing clients as well as accommodate a broader scope of work, expanding our offerings and our market reach, to become more involved in national and international supply chains.”

Made in Queensland complements the Queensland Advanced Manufacturing 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan, which sets out a vision for an innovative, sustainable and globally recognised advanced manufacturing sector in Queensland by 2026.
