Applications are now open for the Individuals Fund, providing financial support for Queensland-based artists and art workers to gain professional and career development opportunities.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said it is important to invest in local artists and arts workers, as the Palaszczuk Government continues to deliver the plan for economic recovery.
“The arts is key to delivering our plan for economic recovery, each year injecting $8.5 billion into the state’s economy and supporting more than 92,000 Queensland jobs,” Minister Enoch said.
“This year, the Individuals Fund has been re-shaped to offer a wider criteria to acknowledge the shift in development and delivery of arts product by including building digital skills, delivering digital work, and purchasing equipment.
“Funding of up to $7000 per applicant is available, including $1000 in equipment purchases, encouraging artists to expand their art, practice and professionalism.
“Expanded access to the Individuals Fund means that artists who do not have an ABN can still apply as part of an auspicing process, with a Queensland based arts or cultural organisation managing the application on the applicant’s behalf.
“Since the onset of COVID-19 the Palaszczuk Government has committed to nearly $60 million worth of initiatives, including the $22.5 million Arts and Cultural Recovery Package, to sustain the arts and cultural sector.” Ms Enoch said.
Sunshine Coast musician Dr Kim Cecile Elton received $5400 in 2020 through the Individuals Fund to compose, arrange and record her new studio album, Eclectic.
“This recording project was my fourth experience over 10 years in creating and recording my music,” Dr Elton said.
“The project expanded my understanding of the editing process and helped to build my professional approach to project management and working relationships.”
The Individuals Fund is open until 28 March for projects commencing 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
