New COVID Safe Ambassadors will be out and about in the community from today to keep Queenslanders up to date with the latest information about the relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman said the Queensland Government Ready Reserve COVID Safe Ambassadors will be in shopping centres, visiting local businesses and chatting with Queenslanders about staying safe and healthy, to ensure a successful Stage 2 of the roadmap to easing restrictions.
“Because of the great job we’ve done on the health response to COVID-19, we can start reopening the economy earlier,” Ms Fentiman said.
“Having businesses welcome more customers from today is great for business and it’s great for jobs.
“The COVID Safe Ambassadors will focus on shops and businesses throughout our communities so valuable information reaches as many Queenslanders as possible.
“We want to help Queenslanders help themselves through safe physical distancing and by practising good hygiene especially in public areas, because staying COVID safe will help us on the road to easing more restrictions.
“Our Ambassadors will talk to business owners and operators, shop managers and members of the public about the current restrictions, our public health directives, and how and where to find the relevant information.
“The hospitality and beauty therapy industries have important guidelines to follow and our Ambassadors can help with these.”
The Palaszczuk Government eased COVID-19 restrictions on Monday 1 June, bringing forward Stage 2 of the roadmap.
“Queensland is on the move and we want Queenslanders to keep up with the changed restrictions so we can move towards Stage 3 as soon as possible,” the Minister said.
“We have a plan for QLD which is all about creating jobs and future proofing Qld.”
