Taxi business grants open to industry

Taxi and limousine licence holders can now access funding for business support grants.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said $350,000 had been made available via the $100 million Industry Adjustment Assistance Package established by the Palaszczuk Government in 2016.

“The funding has provided a range of financial, advisory and incentive measures to support the industry during the transition to Queensland’s personalised transport framework,” Mr Bailey said.

“About $1.8 million was allocated in 2018 to grant additional fee relief for taxi and limousine licence renewals and the taxi industry security levy.

“This latest round of grants will enable licence holders to access up to $5000 in matched funding, through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority, to implement business improvement initiatives, help pay for financial advice or overcome an identified business issue to help them align their business to the industry framework.

“This is the second round of business support grants and these have been tailored based on feedback from those who applied in the first round as well as industry representatives."

One grant is available per licence on a first come first served basis until the funds are exhausted.
