$3.7 mill upgrade for Brisbane Valley Highway

The Palaszczuk Government has announced a $3.7 million investment for one of south east Queensland’s most popular scenic drives.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said from mid-February, work crews would resurface a 26 km stretch of the Brisbane Valley Highway between Esk and Fernvale, as well as two sections south of Fernvale.

“The Brisbane Valley Highway is the major arterial road for local communities including Lowood, Esk and Toogoolawah, and a popular route used by tourists and day-trippers visiting Somerset and Wivenhoe Dams,” Minister Bailey said.

“It’s a welcome project for both locals and visitors that will improve safety and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.”

Resurfacing works are expected to take eight weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and road signage will be in place to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists.

Motorists should observe all signage when approaching the road works.

Minister Bailey thanked motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and cooperation during the works.
