Online portal to support veterans in Queensland
Queensland ex-Australian Defence Force personnel will now be able to easily find and access services and support thanks to a new online veterans’ portal.
The one-stop-shop veterans’ portal will support ex-service personnel and their families in the lead up to, during and after their transition into civilian life.
Assistant Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Jennifer Howard launched the online portal today, encouraging veterans to take advantage of all it has to offer.
“The portal incorporates a support services search engine, which will allow veterans to easily search for, and connect with, the support they need,” Ms Howard said.
“We know finding a job outside the Australian Defence Force can be daunting for veterans, which is why the portal includes employment pathways for veterans to explore employment options.
“The portal features a number of other important resources for veterans, including accommodation and housing services and support, counselling and mental health services and information about concessions.
“This project delivers on the commitment made by the Premier in July to launch an online veterans’ portal by the end of the year.”
Community members and service providers are being encouraged to provide their feedback on the online portal.
“If you are a current or ex-Australian Defence Force member, their family, or someone who works with or cares for them, then we want to hear from you,” Ms Howard said.
