Queensland's exports boom again

Another month, another record for Queensland export.

Figures for October show Queensland exports jumped a massive 20.6% or $3.7 billion in the year to October.

In the 12 months to October, Queensland merchandise exports totalled $79.3 billion.

The Premier said it is a proud achievement for Queensland.

“Once again, Queensland exports more than New South Wales and Victoria combined,” the Premier said.

“Exports mean jobs. This is a tremendous Christmas present for our state.”

The figures came through as the Premier joined Sun Metals in Townsville announcing a $300 million expansion creating more than 350 jobs in construction and 100 in on-going refinery work.

It was as a result of the Premier’s Trade Mission to South Korea.

Export prices for Queensland’s two most valuable exports – coal and LNG – have increased substantially over the past two years.

Beef exports are also up $288 million over the year to October.
