Queensland Women’s Week grants extended

Community groups who want to help make the 2019 Queensland Women’s Week celebrations a big success now have extra time to apply for a share of $150,000 worth of grants.

Minister for Women Di Farmer said the closing date for the grants had been extended for an extra seven days and would now close on Sunday 18 November.

“This extension will give more Queenslanders the chance to apply for grants of up to $3000 to hold celebrations during the week, acknowledging the achievements of women and girls.”

Ms Farmer said the success of Queensland Women’s Week had grown year on year.

“That’s why we are keen to build on this success and are again calling on community organisations to help us stage a series of events and activities across the state that offer opportunities for everyone to join together in celebration of the enormous contribution that women and girls make,” she said.

“For next year’s Queensland Women’s Week, we are looking for activities that support Queensland women and girls to improve their financial literacy and capability, or events that raise awareness in the community of the issues that contribute to women’s financial disadvantage and economic insecurity.”

Ms Farmer said Queensland Women’s Week, which will run from 2-10 March 2019, provides a strong platform to continue efforts to create real gender equality and tackle the causes of inequality.

“We know that by working together towards gender equality, all Queenslanders can have the same opportunities to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential,” she said.

The Queensland Government’s Office for Women is administering the 2019 Queensland Women's Week grant program.

Grants are available to eligible applicants, which include not-for-profit groups, local government entities, and Parents & Citizens Associations.

Applications for the grants close at 5pm on Sunday 18 November 2018 and can be submitted by visiting SmartyGrants.
