Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Mark Bailey
The Cash Road intersection with Eumundi-Noosa Road will receive a safety upgrade delivered in time for the busy holiday period.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said locals had raised concerns about the safety and performance of the intersection.
“The works will include new line marking and installing an improved right-hand turn lane for westbound motorists turning right into Cash Road from Eumundi-Noosa Road,” Mr Bailey said.
“TMR is also continuing work on a $200,000 planning study along Eumundi-Noosa Road.
“The planning study will determine what other improvements are necessary to provide Sunshine Coast motorists with a safer road.”
Mr Bailey said a speed limit review had also been completed between Wilkes Lane and Beddington Road.
“We initiated the review after some community members asked us to investigate whether the speed along there should be dropped from 80km/h to 60km/h,” he said.
“Speed limit reviews consider various factors including crash history, road construction standard, traffic volumes and prevailing speeds.
“TMR has recently reported the results of that review and recommended the speed limit remain at 80km/h for the time being.”
