The Cream of Australia - buy local dairy products
Queensland dairy farmers are being celebrated as the cream of Australia in an exciting state-wide advertising campaign launched today in conjunction with Queensland Dairyfarmers' Organisation (QDO).
Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman and Minister for Agriculture Mark Furner launched the Cream of Australia advertising campaign as part of our Go Local Dairy initiative with QDO at White Park Dairy Farm, urging Queenslanders to buy Queensland dairy products.
“Over the next 12 months you will be seeing and hearing plenty of mooing about our dairy industry with in-store promotions, TV, radio and social media advertising as well as the launch of Farm Gate festivals at a number of dairy farms across the state,” Ms Fentiman said
“Most of our dairy farmers are also small businesses and we know that many of them are doing it tough.”
“We have partnered with industry to highlight the exceptional quality of our wonderful dairy products.
“I encourage everybody to support our farmers and associated small businesses by stocking up on local dairy items.
“There are plenty of labels to look out for including Maleny, Norco, 4Real Milk and Mungalli Creek but they are just a few.”
Ms Fentiman said $290,000 has been invested in partnership with the QDO to promote the state’s dairy industry.
“We will also be hosting business workshops and mentoring opportunities for dairy producers that will highlight how they could further promote and market their produce as well as possibly broadening their product range.”
“This sector is very important to Queensland with approximately 385 dairy farms in Queensland from Far North Queensland and the Central Burnett, to the Darling Downs, the Scenic Rim and the Lockyer Valley,” she said.
Queensland Dairyfarmers' Organisation President Brian Tessman said the Go Local Dairy campaign encouraged consumers to value and seek-out Queensland sourced dairy products.
“Queenslanders want to do the right thing and support Queensland brands and Queensland dairy farmers,” Mr Tessman said.
“Help preserve the farm-fresh taste for the next generation because Queensland’s dairy farmers are indeed the cream of Australia.”
Minister Furner said there are so many products on offer that you can buy that supports Queensland dairy farmers
“From ice-cream, milk, butter and cream, to cheese and yoghurt - look for Queensland produce and support our local dairy farmers,” Mr Furner said.
“We need to raise a glass to our local dairy farmers and I encourage all Queenslanders to pay a fair price and support the local dairy industry.”
