FSG clients given certainty by new CPL partnership

Minister for Disability Services Coralee O'Rourke has today (25 June) thanked CPL – Choice, Passion, Life for entering into a partnership with FSG which will give clients certainty.

Mrs O’Rourke said the independent partnership between CPL and FSG would help ensure the continuity of services for people with disability living in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales who are clients of FSG.

“I am pleased that the clients of FSG, and their families and carers, have been put first and they will be able to access the services they need into the future, following the recent news that FSG will enter voluntary administration from 30 June,” she said.

“As the Minister for Disability Services, the wellbeing and welfare of Queenslanders with disability, including the clients of FSG is always my highest priority.

“My other priority since news of the FSG’s financial issues came to light has been to ensure appropriate job opportunities are found for FSG’s hard working staff.

“That’s why I am welcoming the news today that CPL expects to offer employment to many of these FSG employees.”

Mrs O’Rourke thanked FSG staff for working hard to support their clients for the past 35 years – particularly during recent challenges.

“It’s sad that an organisation that has supported so many people with disability for so long will cease operations at the end of this month, but the partnership with CPL is a light at the end of the tunnel for those most affected by this closure,” she said.

“CPL is a respected and experienced disability service provider so I’m very pleased they have stepped in.

“The Queensland Government has worked extensively with CPL for decades for the provision of disability services to thousands of people with disability.”

Mrs O’Rourke also thanked staff from the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors who have worked hard behind the scenes to help facilitate this partnership between CPL and FSG.
