$200 million Works for Queensland Budget boost a huge win for regional jobs

The State Budget will lock in an extra $200 million for the jobs-generating powerhouse Works for Queensland, a program already supporting more than 10,000 jobs in regional Queensland.

Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the $200 million Budget boost brought total funding for Works for Queensland to $600 million.

“Works for Queensland is delivering exceptional results in regional Queensland, in terms of jobs, infrastructure and economic investment,” he said.

“The program has already supported more than 10,000 jobs, and rising, as we ramp up our investment in regional Queensland.

“From an All Abilities Park in Gladstone, to a major foreshore redevelopment on Palm Island, to a beautification project for Tara Town Centre,  Works for Queensland is delivering great results for jobseekers and communities in regional Queensland.

“And these benefits will continue to grow, as our increased investment rolls out into regional communities throughout the State.

“Works for Queensland delivers on one of our key election commitments to create and support jobs.

“It’s in stark contrast to the LNP, which sacked 14,000 hardworking Queenslanders when they were in government.”
