Regional innovators headed to state’s marquee innovation festival

Up to 120 entrepreneurs from around regional Queensland will connect with global innovation leaders at the Myriad innovation festival in May with support from the Palaszczuk Government.

Innovation Minister Kate Jones said the Queensland Government’s Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP) was funding a total of around 120 innovative business leaders from regional Queensland to attend the festival in May that will bring together some of the world’s most influential thinkers, entrepreneurs, startups, investors and students.

“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to supporting regional growth and providing regional businesses with the means to attend Myriad is another way we’re strengthening their capabilities,” Ms Jones said.

“The Myriad festival offers a not-to-be-missed chance for startups to network, learn and grow and innovative Queenslanders deserve the opportunity to take part no matter where they live.

“We have such great talent in our regions – not only will these people get to collaborate with some of the world’s best innovators, they’ll also gain exposure for their businesses as part of the Myriad Garage exhibition.”

Funding under the Advance Queensland ARIP will support up to 10 people from each of Queensland’s 12 regions to attend and showcase at the festival.

Advance Queensland is the Palaszczuk Government’s $518 million whole-of-government initiative, supporting programs that drive innovation and jobs across a range of industry sectors.

Local entrepreneurs, startups and innovators will attend in delegations from Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday, Outback Queensland, Fitzroy, Wide Bay Burnett, Darling Downs and Maranoa, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and West Moreton, Gold Coast, and Redland and Logan regions.

Myriad 2018 is being held at the Royal International Convention Centre from May 16-18, 2018.
