Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones has called on the LNP to “come clean” with Gold Coasters and release the legal advice sought by the Newman Government to scrap the Commonwealth Games.
“I call on the Member for Currumbin to do the right thing to be honest with the people of the Gold Coast and release the legal advice,” Ms Jones said in Parliament.
“The Gold Coast Bulletin has in its possession legal advice commissioned by the LNP to scrap the Commonwealth Games.
“I call on those opposite to stop the secrecy and immediately come clean to the people of the Gold Coast.
“The Member for Currumbin is shaking her head, so they want to keep secret the legal advice that they commissioned to axe the Commonwealth Games from the Gold Coast.”
The call to release the documents came after the Leader of the Opposition Deb Frecklington and Member for Currumbin Jann Stuckey denied the LNP sought legal advice on how to scrap the Commonwealth Games or take the Games away from the Coast.
“All I’m asking is that you come clean with the people who voted for you – not a very big ask,” Ms Jones said.
