Palaszczuk Government to improve safety on Mount Mee Road

Work to improve road safety on Mount Mee Road, between Robinson Road at Delaneys Creek and Delaneys Creek School Road, is set to begin next month.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said reducing the incidence of crashes on this road was a high priority for the Palaszczuk Government.

“The Palaszczuk Government completed signage upgrades on Mount Mee and Dayboro Roads in 2017, along with a safety review along this 54km route,” Mr Bailey said.

“The safety review identified this stretch of about 7km between Robinson Road and Delaneys Creek School Road as a priority for improvements.

“This final stage of the $2 million project will involve safety improvements at identified crash sites.

“The works will include guardrail upgrades, vegetation management to improve visibility, road surfacing improvements and enhancements to guide posts.

“The main focus for providing improvements at this specific location is to address the high number of recorded motorcycle crashes.”

Works are scheduled to start in April and will take about two months to complete, weather permitting.

“Works will take place during the day and motorists may experience minor delays, however; traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and signage will be in place,” Mr Bailey said.

“We thank everyone for their patience and remind road users to allow for the changed conditions to ensure safety through the work zone.”
