Queenslanders urged to celebrate Harmony Day
Multicultural Affairs Minister Stirling Hinchliffe is encouraging Queenslanders to celebrate Harmony Day, which is being marked throughout Australia on Wednesday (21 March).
“This year’s Harmony Day theme ‘Everyone Belongs’ aims to bring people together to celebrate Queensland’s great cultural diversity,” he said.
“Coinciding with the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and creating a sense of belonging for everyone.
“Schools, kindies and community organisations throughout Queensland are celebrating Harmony Day through a series of events.
“Along with my parliamentary colleagues, I’ll be wearing my orange ribbon in support of Harmony Day.
“I’ll also be hosting a Harmony Day breakfast at Parliament House, with representatives from Queensland’s multicultural communities.
“The Palaszczuk Government will always support multicultural communities and work hard to make Queensland a more inclusive place.”
