Statement from the Minister for Natural resources, Mines and Energy on Energy Queensland Board Appointment

Appointment of Mark Algie, Energy Queensland

I can confirm Mark Algie was appointed to the board of Energy Queensland in October 2016.

A media release on October 4, 2016 said Mr Algie:

“… brings more than 15 years’ experience in senior human resource management roles within the construction, infrastructure, heavy engineering and media sectors.”

Mark Algie is also an executive of News Ltd based at its Bowen Hills headquarters in Brisbane.

Mr Algie’s experience includes as a member of the Australian Defence Force.

His experience in workplace relations was invaluable in the merger of Queensland’s energy companies, earning the respect of workers involved in the process who endorsed his appointment to the board.

He was subject to normal board-appointment selection processes including the endorsement of cabinet.
