Statement from the Minister for Environment

The waste industry in Queensland is a big industry and while most do the right thing, we will not allow Queensland to become a dumping ground for interstate waste.

That's why we established a three-month, independent investigation into cross-border transport of waste last year.

The Palaszczuk Government is addressing the issue and I call on the New South Wales Government to stop turning a blind eye and do their part to fix the legal issues surrounding this.

Our Government will consider the recommendations stemming from the report soon.
