Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy
The Honourable Dr Anthony Lynham

Joint statement - RACQ discussion

Today’s meeting with the RACQ was a positive opening to further discussion on the key issue of fuel price gouging by retailers.

Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham and Transport Minister Mark Bailey have met the RACQ’s Head of public policy Dr Rebecca Michael.

We all agreed that the south-east Queensland market needs more competition.

Going forward, RACQ will provide government their comparative data and analysis.

The next step will be discussion with fuel retailers, including our valued independent fuel retailers.

We are focussed on relieving cost of living pressures.

Our bottom line is that we don’t want to create any red tape that will unintentionally  drive up costs for motorists.
