Small businesses across Queensland are encouraged to take part in the Queensland Government’s new 100 Faces of Small Business initiative.

Minister for Employment and Small Business, Shannon Fentiman said that the 100 Faces of Small Business campaign will celebrate the achievements and highlight Queensland’s diverse small businesses.

“100 Faces of Small Business will shine a light on the real people behind Queensland’s small businesses.

“More than 97% of Queensland business are small businesses so it is vital that we continue to recognise the valuable contribution they make to our communities across the state.

“By showcasing the faces of our small business owners and their inspiring stories, we aim to highlight the hard work and heart that goes into running a small business while motivating other small businesses to start, grow and create more jobs.”

Owner of Henry Hottie Michelle Cummins said that since starting her small therapeutic pet bed business in 2012, it has since gone from strength to strength.

“I started the business in my garage at home after looking into non-toxic alternatives for pet beds to help my sick little cat Henry who couldn’t regulate his body temperature,” Ms Cummins said.

“With the help of a Small Business Digital grant, I am now able to update my website to expand to the overseas market and will be launching into the US later this year.”

“I love animals and to be able to see my business grow and help other people’s pets is just a dream come true.”

Minister Fentiman said to be successful, the 100 Faces of Small Business initiative needs the support of businesses across Queensland to become involved by showcasing their business’ story.

“I encourage all small businesses across Queensland to nominate themselves to be a part of this exciting opportunity and become a strong advocate for small business in their community.”

Nominations for 100 Faces of Small Business are now open. For more information or to nominate your business visit www.business.qld.gov.au, email smallbusiness@dtesb.qld.gov.au, or follow BusinessQLDGov on Facebook and Twitter.
