The Queensland Government’s successful Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative is aiming to assist a further 4,881 jobseekers across the state, including 240 jobseekers in Bundaberg.

Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman announced $30.66 million had been awarded to 161 projects through the latest Skilling Queenslanders for Work funding round.

“This program gives people who have struggled to find work the skills and training they need to find work and build a successful career,” Ms Fentiman said.

“Improving job prospects for Queenslanders will boost the local economy and help businesses to grow.”

“Our investment in programs like this is a practical example of the Palaszczuk Government’s focus on jobs for Queenslanders, with more than 13,000 people finding jobs thanks to the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.”

‘We worked closely with business and industry to create more than 130,000 jobs in our first term in office – an average of 130 new jobs every day.”

“Eight Bundaberg projects have been successful in securing over $2.2 million to support up to 240 people to gain the skills they need to get into work.”

“Since Skilling Queenslanders for Work was reinstated by the Palaszczuk Government in 2015 after it was cut under the LNP over $188.8 million has been committed to 1,103 community based projects, providing training programs to more than 25,000 Queenslanders.”

Skilling Queenslanders for Workfunds skills development, training and job opportunities for unemployed, disengaged or disadvantaged Queenslanders through a suite of targeted skills and training programs.
