143,400 jobs have been created under the Palaszczuk Government and the unemployment rate has remained steady at 5.8%, ABS data released today has shown.

Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad, on a visit to Berrinba business All Purpose Transport, said that the figures demonstrated that the Palaszczuk Government’s economic plan was working.

“Our number one priority is jobs, in the south east and in the regions, and it is clear that our initiatives are working,” Ms Trad said.

“In the last month alone we have seen 6,200 jobs created across our state. That means 6,200 more families who have increased security this Christmas.

“This is the thirteenth consecutive month of jobs growth in Queensland.

“Queensland has had the strongest jobs growth in the country over the last year and our stable Labor Government will continue to deliver jobs.

“These fantastic results are being driven by key programs like Back to Work, supporting young workers, like Liam Alder and Dattuan Truong, and our great local small businesses.”

Employment Minister and Member for Waterford Shannon Fentiman said it was programs like Back to Work that were driving the creation of new jobs.

“We know that some people are still struggling to find the right opportunity and that’s what makes Back to Work and businesses like All Purpose Transport so successful,” Ms Fentiman said.

“Back to Work supports Queensland businesses to take on new staff and I’m hearing countless stories about how employers, employees and indeed communities are thriving because of this program.

“I am looking forward to hearing many more of these stories as I get to meet more of our Back to Work employers across the state.”

Member for Logan Linus Power said the Back to Work program had contributed to significant growth in employment in Logan.

“More than 25,000 jobs have been created in the Logan-Beaudesert region since the election of the Palaszczuk Government, and unemployment in the region has fallen from 8.4 per cent to 6.8 per cent over the same period,” Mr Power said.’
